Movement disorder care that gives the day back

A tremor that spills your tea, a foot that drags by evening, a night broken by stiffness — movement disorders are measured in lost moments, not just symptoms. At Bahat Global, our Neurology institute treats Parkinson's disease, essential tremor and dystonia with one aim: to help you climb the stairs unaided, sleep through the night and hold a grandchild steadily again.

We do not promise to cure these conditions. We promise to manage them honestly, and to keep adjusting the plan as your real days change.

Parkinson's disease treatment, tuned to your real day

Effective Parkinson's disease treatment rarely comes from a single prescription. Drug treatment for Parkinson's disease is most useful when it is shaped around how you actually live — when stiffness peaks, when energy dips, when a dose wears off before the next is due.

Our consultants review your current medication and work through the treatment options for Parkinson's disease in plain language. Levodopa remains the foundation for many people, but timing, dosing and combinations matter enormously. We aim for iterative medication optimisation: small, considered changes, reviewed against the diary of your week, rather than one large adjustment and a long wait.

Beyond the tremor: non-motor and atypical symptoms

Much of what makes Parkinson's hard to live with is not the movement itself. Treatment of non-motor symptoms of Parkinson's disease — fatigue, low mood, disrupted sleep, swallowing changes — sits at the centre of how we plan care. If Parkinson's disease fatigue treatment or depression is what limits your day, we address it directly rather than treating it as secondary.

We also assess atypical Parkinson's disease carefully, because an accurate picture shapes realistic expectations. And as new treatment options for Parkinson's disease emerge, we discuss whether they are genuinely relevant to you — not simply the newest thing.

Essential tremor and dystonia

Essential tremor and dystonia are distinct from Parkinson's and deserve their own assessment. For essential tremor, we focus on reducing the shake that interferes with writing, eating and work, through carefully chosen medication and, where appropriate, onward options.

Dystonia — including focal forms and foot dystonia in Parkinson's disease — is assessed with attention to the specific muscles and movements affected, so that treatment targets what actually disrupts your function.

Honest deep-brain-stimulation assessment

For some people, surgery for Parkinson's disease — deep brain stimulation (DBS) — can meaningfully reduce tremor and motor fluctuations. For others, it is not the right path, and saying so plainly is part of good care.

Our role is candid DBS candidacy assessment: explaining who tends to benefit, what the procedure involves, and what it cannot do. We will not steer you toward an intervention that does not fit your situation. If DBS is suitable, rehabilitation and medication review continue alongside it.

Rehabilitation from day one

Movement, balance and speech therapy are not an afterthought here — rehabilitation is integrated from the first day of your plan. Physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and your neurology team work to the same functional goals, so progress in the clinic translates into progress at home.

Why Bahat Global, Istanbul

Bahat Global is the movement and functional care clinic on the BHT Clinic Istanbul campus — a full tertiary hospital, JCI Accredited and TEMOS Certified, part of the Bahat group established in 1994, three decades of clinical practice.

What makes the pathway different is its structure, not a hotel brochure:

  • One senior consultant owns your case from first read to follow-up — your plan is not handed between strangers.
  • Senior consultant first-reads within 24 hours of your records arriving.
  • A 72-hour multidisciplinary board brings neurology, rehabilitation and, where relevant, neurosurgery to one table to agree your plan.
  • One medically-trained clinical case-manager coordinates the whole journey, so you always know who to ask.
  • Eight languages at intake, so nothing about your symptoms is lost in translation.

This is premium care defined by clinical infrastructure — the people and process around your diagnosis — rather than luxury.

Frequent questions

Only some patients benefit. We assess candidacy thoroughly and tell you plainly — including when the honest answer is medication optimisation instead.
